VOTE NO
Prop 39 prevents citizens from voting unless they present a government issued ID or the last four digits.
California already verifies voters’ identities. The majority of Californians voted by mail in the 2024 election. Prop 39 would force all voters who vote by mail to write their social security number or some other government ID number on their ballot envelopes. This is a major security risk issue.
Also, requiring a government issued ID would also create another unnecessary barrier for people who are already more likely to be excluded from the political process, including voters with disabilities, young people, seniors, and communities of color.
